Get Writing Already – A Brief Conversation with Myself

Excuse me while I have a brief conversation with myself, won’t you?

We really need to get over this writer’s block already!  You keep waiting for inspiration to strike but remember all those articles that warned you of how fickle inspiration can be? You should never rely solely on inspiration to pull you through the blank spaces.  Inspiration has been known to just bugger off without notice or care, without so much as a fleeting farewell.  In short, you cannot rely on inspiration.   You just need to write something.  Who cares if it doesn’t mean anything to anyone else as long as it helps you get those rusty wheels turning so you can once again inflict your wordy diatribes upon the unsuspecting Internets?

I know, I know.  You’ve been avoiding that dreaded monster anxious to devour what tiny bit of self-confidence you have left..that hideous creature bent on your creative destruction – the BLANK PAGE and its evil sidekick the mocking, BLINKING CURSOR!  But I’m here to tell you, you can beat them!  You’re better than that blank page trying to intimidate you. Just get going – face it head on, stare it down until that blank page is littered with the glorious sight of little black letters gratefully looking back you, thankful that they’ve finally been given life.

Remember, don’t let the fear of perhaps not producing your best written or particularly interesting post keep you from writing.  The more you neglect writing the bigger the monster will get.

Thank you for bearing with me while I had this conversation with myself.  It may not be particularly interesting, but it had to be done before I imploded with frustration and guilt.
